about

When I moved into the first place I ever paid rent on, I briefly lived with some dudes from our college radio station, WBGU, before they moved out. One of their pieces of decoration was part of a realtor's sign that they had stolen that said "Will Build To Suit". It was hanging over the doorway to the kitchen, so I saw it damn near every day. I liked the way it sounded, so I thought about the idea of recreating yourself to meet the needs of another person. You may have been a building before, but you're not what the new owner wants. We'll make sure we get right on that...

Also, "I am the written line, I am a title fight, I am a crooked spine, I am a satellite" is the best description of myself that I have ever come up with. I am creative, competitive, flawed and dependent.

If you listen to the "Perfectly Normal" version of this, there are quick stabbing, interlaced staccato guitar parts in between the verses. As this song evolved, it kept getting faster and it got harder and harder to pull that off, so I came up with the "swell and wipe" instead. It sounds way, way better and is one of my favorite guitar things that I did on this record.

lyrics

What do you want me to be? Some kind of hulking stud with personality? You can't bestow me these glorious assets that I can never hope to ever get. Well I've got news for you: you can't change me into what you want me to be. I am the written line. I am a title fight. I am a crooked spine. I am a satellite. What do you want? Say, can you see a sign on my back that reads "will build to suit?"

about

treysuno Bowling Green, Ohio

It's exceptionally rare that a rock band affects the lives of people. Most of the time they're just background noise, easily dismissed and happily forgotten. One of the true joys of being in treysuno is knowing that we were the soundtrack to some of the best years of the lives of a couple dozen people. Who needs a stadium tour when you can make a deeply personal connection like that? ... more
