Wake up, there's a war on and I'm convinced that you're going to sleep through it. Get up, put your coat on and rest assured that you're going to die in it. Wake up, put the game on and divert your attention for a minute. Get up, strap your gun on and make sure your suspicion's loaded in it. A hallmark thank you for a lifetime of advice, but I'm just not willing to make that sacrifice.

What do you want me to be? Some kind of hulking stud with personality? You can't bestow me these glorious assets that I can never hope to ever get. Well I've got news for you: you can't change me into what you want me to be. I am the written line. I am a title fight. I am a crooked spine. I am a satellite. What do you want? Say, can you see a sign on my back that reads "will build to suit?"

Mulligan 03:42
Please take me someplace beautiful before you break my heart this time. It's been a long, long brutal summer and I can hardly stand on my own. So cushion the blow: I know you won't. Hook left, I landed in the water. I need a mulligan. I want to start again. You left me back here for another. I need a mulligan. I want to try again, because I can't do nothing right. Oh please, allow me to reconcile. I want to plead my case to you. See I brought you fresh-picked flowers, but you just looked at me and said "so what? They're all dead."

Saline 03:46
You're not one to look away just before the trains collide. In truth versus naivete, it's a simple task to choose a side. When the wreck occurs, there'll be no doubt. When he speaks in slurs, he'll spit it out. Signals in the smoke leapt to point toward the same scene. Dirty little secrets kept behind a flowing golden sheen. Sedition lurked while she slept but never acted so mean. Laughter swelled while she wept, drowning in the saline. Brace for a revelation in the shadow of misdealings. You can't fake a revolution to hide your shattered feelings. He accepts his sin and does not pout. If he can't fit in, he'll be left out. Here's my two cents that I won't count. If it won't don't make sense, well, throw it out.

Hang a right on Collingwood Boulevard and check out all the churches we roll past. It's only two or three blocks to Randy's house but we're going nowhere fast. Out of nowhere came an '89 Audi sedan. We're spinning out of control. Out of gas, out of luck and out a thousand bucks, but we're spinning out of control. I wipe the blood with my shaking hand. Fend off jagged metal and shards of glass. Sara's complexion looks pale by the dashboard light and then she slips into the past. It's all true, it's half lies. I blame you, let's compromise. It's all yours, no, it's half mine. We all suffer in time.

The Expert 03:44
I'm a question with answer expected, but I remain calm and collected. "Help is on the way," he replied, but the evidence suggests that he lied. I'm done with doctors and hospital bills. I'm done with diagnoses and pills. I'm done with singing the same sad song. I'm not the expert, but I know that he's wrong.
8.
Washout 02:12
I watched the decline of man at street level on Friday night. I'm pulling for you to pull through, but I've got my doubts... washout. I watched the decline of man at home on TV on my couch.

A Man 04:25
No, I won't back down without a fight. Because I'm Sonny Liston and I know that I'm right. I can't take much more - you're so brash and bold - because I'm Sonny Liston and I'm growing old. I couldn't finish the bout, now I'm soundly defeated. I wanted and got my rematch but I just couldn't stay on my feet. All anyone wants to know is whether I took a dive or am I just washed up and past my prime. I swallowed my pride. I am a man and I did what I had to, because I'm Sonny Liston and you're the greatest.

Chicago 04:08
What are you going to do with your life now that you've got your teaching degree? Heard you're moving to Chicago just to get a way from me. I hope Chicago finds you well and it's everything you hoped it'd be. But when the wind starts blowing cold you can always come back to me. Drink black coffee and have a smoke. Popping Paxils by the pound. Are you still wearing my old T-shirts? Sounds like my kind of town.

We reminisce on times in the course of our lives when we've encountered harm. Like when I focus my mind on when I was five and I broke my arm. The mistakes we make, we're destined to repeat whether the lesson's learned or not. The liberties we take to keep ourselves elite are what's causing us to rot. "Hey self-actuator, do you want my help?" I'm a self-actuator and I can do it myself. But we all fall down and make a sudden stop, just like how Icarus fared. When I hit the ground and I felt a pop, well, I was fooled, not dared.

about

It took us damn near 7 years to make this record, and I'm pretty sure we've apologized enough for that.

This is a near-concept record about making mistakes and dealing with their consequences. It wasn't supposed to be about that when we started making it, but we as we wrote more songs and more lyrics, it just seemed like that's where everything was going. Plus, we spent 3+ years making mistakes while making the record, so the theme seemed to fit quite nicely.

All in all, I think we made a really solid album and it's kind of a shame that we were pretty much not a band anymore by the time we got around to putting this thing out. This record deserved a tour and a press push. This record deserved a lot better than we gave it.

By the way, that is a narwhal on the cover, not some sort of kangaroo rat. Russell Baltes and I came up with the concept one night while we were watching hockey highlights on SportsCenter. Apologies to the old Hartford Whalers.

The CD packaging is actually pretty sweet if you ask me. If you want a copy (or a couple hundred) let me know and I'd be glad to hook you up.

about

treysuno Bowling Green, Ohio

It's exceptionally rare that a rock band affects the lives of people. Most of the time they're just background noise, easily dismissed and happily forgotten. One of the true joys of being in treysuno is knowing that we were the soundtrack to some of the best years of the lives of a couple dozen people. Who needs a stadium tour when you can make a deeply personal connection like that? ... more
