about

Part of the reason why this record took so long is that around the beginning of tracking in Ann Arbor, my throat swelled up and made it nearly impossible for me to sing. I thought maybe I needed a tonsillectomy so I went to my doctor who referred me to an ear-nose-throat doctor who told me that I needed to have a sleep study done because he thought I might have sleep apnea. While that diagnosis was correct, we never did anything about my throat swelling. Several thousand dollars worth of hospital bills later, I still couldn't sing. I pretty much had to re-learn how to sing since I had lost some range and timbre. This song was basically a big "thanks for nothing" to the doctors who left me in debt and without any solution for the problem that I went in for. I still have doctor issues and it will probably kill me eventually.

Side note: it took me another 8 years to get treatment for my sleep apnea. Combination of being wary of doctors and the fact that my health insurance wouldn't cover the treatment upon my initial diagnosis.

This song started off as "Nebraska" which became "Unnatural" which finally became "The Expert." This was shelved for a while because we just couldn't make it sound good, but J.D. changed all that. Those drums at the beginning were the catalyst to make this into probably our heaviest song.

This one is also recorded in 3 sections. I kinda wish we had done it a little more live. I know there were some guitar revisions late in the game on this one and I think that turned out for the best.

lyrics

I'm a question with answer expected, but I remain calm and collected. "Help is on the way," he replied, but the evidence suggests that he lied. I'm done with doctors and hospital bills. I'm done with diagnoses and pills. I'm done with singing the same sad song. I'm not the expert, but I know that he's wrong.

about

treysuno Bowling Green, Ohio

It's exceptionally rare that a rock band affects the lives of people. Most of the time they're just background noise, easily dismissed and happily forgotten. One of the true joys of being in treysuno is knowing that we were the soundtrack to some of the best years of the lives of a couple dozen people. Who needs a stadium tour when you can make a deeply personal connection like that? ... more
