about

The first song I wrote for treysuno, this was our set closer for about 95% of our shows. Usually the end section of this song was the trigger for us destroying the stage, wandering out into the crowd, jumping up on the bar and other rock and roll gymnastics. I think most people who came to our shows were attracted more by the antics than the music, but you take what you can get.

This song is about a friend/housemate of mine who had just graduated college and was moving to Chicago (duh) and accidentally (I think) took one of my favorite T-shirts. There was never any romantic relationship between us, but I took a little artistic license with the lyrics.

This is easily my favorite recorded version of this song. My guitar sounds fantastic: Gibson SG Special through my Fender Twin Reverb attached to a 4x12 Mesa cab. I'm sure I used some distortion/overdrive stompbox, but I don't remember what. Possibly a Boss Super Overdrive that I had re-wired with a vintage Tube Screamer circuit. That was my primary overdrive during this period, so it makes sense.

lyrics

What are you going to do with your life now that you've got your teaching degree? Heard you're moving to Chicago just to get a way from me. I hope Chicago finds you well and it's everything you hoped it'd be. But when the wind starts blowing cold you can always come back to me. Drink black coffee and have a smoke. Popping Paxils by the pound. Are you still wearing my old T-shirts? Sounds like my kind of town.

about

treysuno Bowling Green, Ohio

It's exceptionally rare that a rock band affects the lives of people. Most of the time they're just background noise, easily dismissed and happily forgotten. One of the true joys of being in treysuno is knowing that we were the soundtrack to some of the best years of the lives of a couple dozen people. Who needs a stadium tour when you can make a deeply personal connection like that? ... more
