I can sense exasperation with your standing in the world. There's no need for reservation, just agree to heed my words. We decide what the truth is now. You can have your mind made up. We decide what the truth is now. Let your anger service us. Make you our evangelist for the wars that we must win. Share with you the master list of whom to punish for their sins.

Worst. Episode. Ever.

This show gets worse and worse; cheap jokes and an ill-timed curse. And just when you think you have seen it all, a new character comes in with a cheap suit and a cartoon grin to distract you with some shock and awe. I heard you say you don't know what has changed. In the golden age, we repeated every word you said. Here and now, I really don't know how you figured out that you could turn yellow into red. I did all I was taught I should because I still want it to be good, but the loudest voice gets his way again. Now the audience just weeps at all of these stunts for sweeps, but we all tune in to see how it ends. These well worn quotes are the language we shared, and they carried such weight as they floated through air. Now it's careless and coarse, these alternative facts. For all the bluster we have, it's the truth that we lack.

Catchphrase

The enemies and ironies are tightropes for the acrobats who wow the crowd and walk their scribbled lines in the parade. All this simple wisdom won't help you imagine that the message has taken second place to the money to be made. One simple turn of phrase, one mouth becomes a gun. See how much the candidate pays; he's not the only one. If you're making your argument, let it show. If you're feeling so confident, let it go. A pattern change enables, a talking point restated, a typeset sense of urgency in red, blue and white. The elegance of prose is underestimated. If the book don't hook 'em, well then, by God, that fortune cookie might. One stomach-turning phrase, one fist becomes a gun. See what the committee pays; they're not the only ones.

Erect our monuments to soar to the firmament. Rise up, rise up, rise up! Bronze cast with care, but fully unaware of this shaky ground. A still-life cavalry, a wartime reveille. Wake up, wake up, wake up! General principle is untenable on this shaky ground. It's all coming down. Give up, give up, give up! You're going to topple in time. The base from which you rise was built on shaky ground.

Oh for Christ's sake, pump the brakes on your gospel of prosperity. A tooth for a tooth is the businessman's truth, but it isn't for me. We've overthrown the rule of kings. We all hope for better things. To act like the boss, get down off the cross that your faithful designed. I need more from you than a sentence or two saying "everything's fine." Your family graft, your tarnished crown, your name in lights: it's burning down. Burn the whole thing down and it will rise from the ashes. It will become what we make it. It will become who we are.

treysuno Bowling Green, Ohio
It's exceptionally rare that a rock band affects the lives of people. Most of the time they're just background noise, easily dismissed and happily forgotten. One of the true joys of being in treysuno is knowing that we were the soundtrack to some of the best years of the lives of a couple dozen people. Who needs a stadium tour when you can make a deeply personal connection like that? ... more
